I understand that not everybody feels able to speak to a doctor in order to receive mental health help. So, I have found a few online self-referral services. I, of course, would recommend seeing a doctor first so they can assess what course of action to take such as the use of medication or not. I talk more about my experience with medication here.
On the NHS website you can search for mental health centres in your area – here. You can search for help within your area.
Within Kent, Surrey and Merton the NHS use Think Action. Think Action offer a self-referral form to counselling and other therapies for mental health. They aim to have someone call you within a week and receiving treatment within three weeks.
I also found some useful numbers that offer mental health help. So, who you gonna call?
Anxiety UK: 03444 775 774 (9.30am-5.30pm)
No Panic: 0844 967 4848 (10am-10pm)
Mental Health Matters: 0800 107 0160
Samaritan: 116 123
NHS Crisis Line: 0300 222 0123
Obviously these are the numbers for mental health help in the UK. If you’d like me to do a similar post for elsewhere in the world comment below and I will try my best to research.
